Every Failed Yard Has a Reason
A yard that does not work usually has a reason. The slope pushes water the wrong way. The soil was never amended so nothing roots. Beds were placed where they get baked all afternoon. Plants were chosen for a climate that is not this one.

Correct fall away from the house and amended soil so roots have somewhere to go.
Trees and Shrubs
Species that handle Colorado winters, placed with their mature size in mind, not their nursery size.
Mulch and Rock
Clean bed lines, proper depth, and weed barrier where it belongs. Rock or mulch depending on the bed.
Full Renovations
Complete resets when the existing landscape is past fixing. Everything out, everything new.
COLORADO CONDITIONS
Clay Fights Back
Denver soil is heavy clay in most of the metro. It holds water, then cracks when it dries. Plant into it without amendment and roots stay shallow, which is how a two hundred dollar tree dies in its second winter.

We prep the soil properly and pick plants that tolerate the swing between a ninety degree afternoon and a hard freeze six weeks later. Xeric planting is on the table if you want to cut water use without giving up color.
