UNDER THE SURFACE

Patios Fail From the Bottom Up

A patio that heaves after two winters was not built wrong on the surface. It was built on a base that was too thin or never compacted. Water gets into the ground, freezes, expands, and lifts the stone.

We excavate to depth, compact in lifts, and set the surface with proper fall so water runs off instead of sitting in the joints. It is slower. It is also the difference between a patio that lasts and one you pay for twice.

Retaining Walls

WALL CONSTRUCTION

Retaining Walls Are Drainage Projects

Most failed walls in this area fail because water built up behind them with nowhere to go. Saturated soil pushes hard, and a wall built without drainage rock and a pipe behind it eventually leans.

We build the drainage in from the start and check whether the wall height triggers a permit before we quote it.

Finish the Space

A Patio Is Only the Floor

A patio is the floor. Most clients add a pergola, fire pit, or lighting to make it usable in the evening and through fall. If the slope is what forced the wall, the yard probably needs a drainage plan too.
